Video or Audio Chats

I'm quite willing to do live chats with individual students and, if we get that far, with students in a reading group that are reading a book on the reading list together. These chats are meant to complement the reading, blogging, and reflections that students make.  They are not intended as a substitute for those other activities.  In other words, these live sessions are like office hours for a regular class.  Office hours complement the regular class meeting.

I am also willing to have a chat with a student who has not yet opted into the non-course, to answer any questions you may have and get you to see if the non-course makes sense for you.

To schedule such a chat, send me an email in which you include your preferred times (it's best to include 3 of those) as well as reminding me of your time zone.  I'm in Central time.  I probably will turn down times that want me to meet at 5 PM or later, my time.  I do partake in happy hour frequently, and that is the usual time when happy hour starts.

In writing up this and other pages in the non-course description, I've had in the back of my head that non-course students are traditional age-wise, from 18 to their mid 20s.  I just turned 66.  I'm guessing, for just that reason, that students in the non-course would prefer to socialize with their own friends and/or they start that later in the day.  But we live in unusual times.  If you'd like to do a non-course happy hour, we can probably do that.  And maybe it's something to try.  On this one, I really don't know.
